SEO Reporting Software Evaluation Scorecard
A 30-control, 100-point framework for evaluating the reporting layer behind an agency’s client updates—without letting a polished dashboard hide weak data, unsupported claims, or lock-in.
Print or save as PDF using your browser’s built-in print menu (Cmd/Ctrl + P).
Use this scorecard after you have named the reporting job and shortlisted two to four products. Rebuild one representative client report in each product, collect evidence beside every row, and score observed behavior rather than sales-demo promises.
Score each control 0 when absent, 1 when partial or manual, and 2 when complete and repeatable. Multiply by the weight and add the results. The maximum is 100 points. A failed red-line item remains a separate decision risk, even when the total looks strong.

Primary-source measurement notes
The controls are vendor-neutral, but they account for limits in the underlying systems. Google states that Search Console performance queries can omit some page-and-query rows and documents paging results in 25,000-row increments. The GA4 Data API publishes the available standard and custom dimensions and metrics. Google Ads documents GAQL queries across resources, segments, metrics, and metadata. An evaluator should verify that a reporting product preserves those source-specific scopes instead of flattening them into an unexplained total.

FAQ
How do I score SEO reporting software?⌄
Score every control 0 for absent, 1 for partial or manual, and 2 for complete and repeatable. Multiply that score by the listed weight, then add the results. The maximum is 100 points. Treat a failed red-line control as a separate decision risk rather than hiding it inside the total.
What is a red-line requirement?⌄
A red-line requirement protects source integrity, review, access, or portability. A product can earn a high numerical score and still be unsuitable if it cannot identify sources, preserve evidence, require approval, restrict access, or return agency data.
Does the highest score identify the best SEO reporting tool?⌄
No. The score makes tradeoffs visible; it does not create a universal winner. Add criteria for your service model, test one representative client report, and verify current product behavior and commercial terms with each vendor.
Is this scorecard independent?⌄
MarqOps publishes the framework and also sells reporting software. No vendor is scored or ranked on this page. The criteria, weights, formula, source notes, and downloadable rows are public so an evaluator can change them and document a different decision.
